‘Govt will provide help in repatriating bodies of martyred pilgrims’
Minister asked Saudi authorities not to bury any martyred pilgrim without permission

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf on Wednesday said that the government would provide every possible help to those who wanted to repatriate bodies of their loved ones home.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said that at least 34 Pakistani pilgrims are still missing but the officials were searching for them. Yousaf said that the officials were still gathering information regarding the martyred and injured Pakistani pilgrims. He said that the body of Asad Murtaza Gilani, the nephew of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, has been repatriated, adding that the government would provide help to those who wanted to repatriate remains of those martyred in Mina tragedy.

The minister said that the heirs of many martyred pilgrims have asked them to bury their loved ones in Saudi Arabia. Answering a question, Yusuf said that they have asked Saudi authorities not to bury any martyred pilgrim without their permission. “As many as 11 Pakistani pilgrims also embraced martyrdom and 23 others injured in crane incident,” the minister said.
