Standing on a container burning bills will not overcome power crisis: PM

SHEIKHUPURA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that running the country is not at all an easy task and that his ruling party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is trying its best to straighten out the problems left by the previous government.

Addressing the media following the ground-breaking of the 1180MW Bhikki Power Plant in Sheikhupura today, the PM said, “We completed a Rs. 95 billion power plant project within RS. 55 billion; power crisis will be overcome through hard work, not by standing on a container and burning electricity bills.”

PM Sharif went on to say that his government will end the energy shortage in five years and also make it cheaper, adding that currently inflation is at its lowest level in the country.

Taking a polite hit at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the PM said, “Sporty politicians should avoid lashing out with cursive language, as we will still pour our hearts out to such people with well wishing prayers.”

PM Nawaz further said that his government with good intentions announced the Kisan Package (package for farmers), but his opponents made the subject a victim of their politics.

He added that such politicians should be questioned that who allowed them to sabotage and pillage our rights, adding that such politics will not be accepted by the people of Pakistan.

Earlier today, the prime minister performed the ground-breaking of the 1180 MW Bhiki Power Plant here. The project costing Rs. 55 billion will be completed by the end of 2017.

It will be a joint venture of Harbin Electric International of China and American General Electric.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also accompanied the PM.
