Indian envoy summoned over cancellation of Samjhauta Express

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Friday expressed concerns over cancellation of the operation of Samjhauta Express on Thursday that caused inconvenience to more than 200 passengers from Pakistan and India.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Acting Deputy High Commissioner of India Raghuram was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by South Asia Director General Dr Mohammad Faisal to express concern over the cancellation.

The statement said that the government had taken all necessary steps to accommodate the stranded Indian passengers, who were not permitted to cross the border on October 8.

"We expect the Indian side to make utmost efforts to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future and facilitate the travellers from Pakistan and India," the statement added.
