Dr Asim uninterested in Sindh governorship
KARACHI: Dr Asim Hussain, close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, has disassociated himself from politics, saying he was a practicing doctor and not interested to become Sindh Governor.
Talking to journalists informally outside the accountability court here Saturday, Dr Asim said, “I am not interested in politics anymore and will continue medical practice after release.”
Dr Asim was presented in the court for the hearing of Rs462 billion corruption reference against him.
“I will not accept the offer of Governorship. I am a practicing doctor and will continue to do so after being released,” Dr Asim remarked when asked if he will become Governor as his name was being considered for the slot by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who is reviving the party.
When the journalist gave reference of Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan being a doctors, Dr Asim said, “Ebad Khan is not a practicing doctor but I am.”
The court put off the hearing to October 15 and sought record of allotments of the lands to Dr Asim.
