Minus-one formula: Durrani sees Imran’s ouster from PTI

* PA speaker advises opposition to avoid politics of agitation

SHIKARPUR: Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has said that there is no restriction on the opposition parties to raise voice for demands for the welfare of the masses and development of their areas.

But the opposition should be realistic to adopt positive attitude towards the democratic process and sanctity of the parliament, he said while addressing a press conference at the Shikarpur House here. To a question, he asked the opposition to shun the politics of agitation and play their constructive role.

Durrani advised the leaders of all political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to avoid wasting precious time by resorting to politics of agitation. About the minus-one formula for the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) as demanded by the PTI chief, he said that was not a new formula as the same formula was adopted by former military rulers Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharaf to minus Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, respectively.

But, he said they (Zia and Musharraf) failed to make this formula a success for them. Instead of minus Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan would get out soon from his party under the minus-one formula. About law and order, he said that the PPP-led provincial government has tried it's best to overcome the adverse situation of law and order created by professional criminal elements.

He said that the police operations were continued against terrorists and other outlaws to restore peace in the province. He asked the PPP workers to support party's candidate Imtiaz Ahed Shaikh who is contesting the by-election in PS-11 Shikarpur to be held on the October 20.

On the occasion, MNA Ghous Bux Khan Mahar of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional announced his support to Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh.
