Provinces request federal govt to suspend cellular services

ISLAMABAD: Administrations of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Islamabad have requested the federal government to suspend the mobile phone services on Tuesday and Wednesday (9th and 10th of Muharram) owing to the ongoing security situation, sources told Geo News.

Strict security measures have been taken throughout the country for Ashura to prevent any untoward incident.

As far as other security measures are concerned, the city's M.A.Jinnah road has also been closed for traffic as containers have been placed to block the road. The road will be opened on 11th Muharram for traffic.

Pillion riding has been banned in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Quetta.
