Three Shahbaz Taseer’s kidnappers killed in Sheikhupura encounter

SHEIKHUPURA: Three of six terrorists killed in an encounter in Sheikhupura two days back have been identified, sources said Monday.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) sources said these three have been identified as Haji Muhammad aka Pathan, Sajid and Riaz Hussain. They were affiliated to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Sources went on to say all three terrorists identified were either directly involved in the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, or facilitators in the kidnapping.

Two days back, the CTD personnel had signaled a car and a motorcycle at security check post at Faisalabad Road near Sheikhupura. On this, the suspected militants opened fire and in retaliation six terrorists were killed and three others managed to flee taking advantage of darkness of the night.

Shahbaz Taseer was abducted from Lahore on Aug 26, 2011 near his company’s head office, a few months after the assassination of his father Salman Taseer at the hands of his bodyguard Mumtaz Qadri. He was recovered from Balochistan earlier this year.
