Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rashid challenges ‘Elections Act 2017’ at SC

Islamabad - Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday challenged the Elections Act 2017 and filed a petition against it in the Supreme Court (SC).

The petition which was by submitted Barrister Farooq Naseem who argued that the Constitution has been contorted to safeguard the interest of a single individual, who has been declared ineligible to rule by the SC.

Rashid added, ‘The ‘Elections Act 2017’ is against articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, thus the law cannot be amended or exempted just for an individual’
