ISLAMABAD – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has said that they were not satisfied with the governance way of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but collective decision of the nation needs to be respected.

Talking to journalists after the National Conference of political leaders here on Monday, Sirajul Haq warned that very integrity of Pakistan would be at stake if the constitution was abrogated. He said that Pakistan came into being after tremendous sacrifices while the Constitution of 1973 was finalized after great deal of efforts.

He said that it was responsibility of the political parties and the nation to protect the constitution. He described that the constitution as the very foundation of Pakistan. Sirajul Haq condemned violence against journalists whether by the government or by anyone else.

He said that Islamabad was under siege and people in Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis were concerned over it, the economy was in reverse gear and therefore it was the collective responsibility of national leadership to find a solution.

He spoke of contacts with the prime minister, the Punjab chief minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and former president Asif Ali Zardari and said as a result of collective efforts. The PTI and the PAT were allowed to enter the red zone.

He said that the government accepted five demands of the PTI and only resignation of the prime minister remained. He said that it should be left to the judicial commission that would decide the extent of rigging in the elections about the level of irregularity in the elections.

JI Ameer Sirajul Haq said that if it was massive rigging, then the prime minister should go.
