PM assures participation in reconstruction of flood-hit homes

JHANG - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government will not rest till complete rehabilitation of flood affected people.

Addressing the flood affectees at Athara Hazari in Jhang district on Saturday, the prime minister said that the federal and provincial governments are working together for the relief and assistance of the flood victims. He said that this is not a favor but responsibility of the government to extend helping hand to the calamity hit people. He said that those whose houses have been damaged by the flood will be fully compensated. He assured that he would also take part in the reconstruction of damaged houses in flood-ravaged areas. He appreciated the services of civil administration, police, armed forces personnel and civilians for rescuing the people from deep waters and distributing relief items among them.

"This passion of public service in this difficult time is appreciable. I hope they will continue showing this devotion until people get deliverance from it," he remarked. Earlier, the prime minister was briefed about the destruction caused by floods and the ongoing relief activities in the area. He was informed that the flood affected 104 villages in Athara Hazari. The flood also damaged major crops including cotton and rice, sugar cane and fodders.
