INP

LAHORE – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday indicted Gullu Butt in the Model Town vandalism case.

During the proceedings, the investigation officer told the court that Gullu Butt vandalised vehicles and harassed people in the Model Town area. He had already been declared guilty in police challan. Gullu Butt was shown by TV cameras smashing car windows and damaging property during the Model Town incident on June 17.

ATC judge Rai Ayub Khan Marth was hearing the case. Meanwhile, Gullu Butt pleaded innocence, saying that baseless allegations were leveled against him. Later, the court indicted Gullu Butt and summoned witnesses in the next hearing. Terrorism, damaging public property and murder attempt charges were framed against the accused.

The challan submitted by the police, had also held Butt responsible by stating that a new wave of terror was spread across Pakistan through his actions therefore terrorism charges were filed against him which were according to law.

Gullu Butt stated all the charges against him were of minor offences but the terrorism and murder attempt charges were later filed maliciously. He added that police had no witness or evidence in that regard. The court had filed charges of breaking vehicle windows and spreading terror.

Butt came into the limelight after he was caught on camera brazenly damaging several vehicles in the presence of police, during the clash between the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and police in Lahore's Model Town on June 17.
