Nawaz, Shahbaz discuss current political crisis, flood ravages

LAHORE - A meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was held at Jati Umra in Raiwand on Sunday to discuss the ongoing political crisis and devastation by the floods in Punjab.

According to reports, the two leaders were of the opinion that the sit-ins should be brought to an end through political dialogue and welcomed the efforts of the opposition jirga in this connection. They however reiterated that the government would not accept any unconstitutional demand of the protestors.

In the meeting, the chief minister briefed the prime minister about the floods in Punjab. Moreover, details about the relief efforts by government were also brought under discussion. The prime minister on the occasion asked the chief minister to ensure fair and transparent compensation to the affected people at the earliest.
