Pakistan, Australia vow to strengthen defence ties
Margaret calls on defence secretary in Islamabad

RAWALPINDI – Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Adamson on Wednesday called on Defence Secretary Muhammad Alam Khattak here in his office.

Both Pakistan and Australia have ties of goodwill and present state of relations are cordial based on mutual trust, said a press release. The Australian government has always been forthcoming in extending assistance during times of needs such as help during floods, relief activities and assistance for settlement of displaced persons.

The secretary appreciated the increase in number of scholarships extended by the Australian government and additional vacancies for cadet training. He appreciated the role played by Australia in reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. He reiterated that peaceful Afghanistan was paramount for peaceful Pakistan.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan's efforts for peace in the region. She applauded the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb military operation and rendered in high esteem the sacrifices of those who have laid down their lives. At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance military to military cooperation.
