By: APP

ISLAMABAD: National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt Gen (r) Nasser Khan Janjua has underlined the efforts Pakistan made and continues to make for peace in Afghanistan, saying that peace and stability in Afghanistan was vital for Pakistan.

Talking to the British prime minister's special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Owen Jenkins, who called on the NSA on Tuesday, Lt Gen (r) Janjua said it was imperative that the peace process was Afghan-led and Afghan-owned.

He also emphasised that world powers should influence the sitting Afghan government to initiate a consolidated and well-planned reconciliation process.

He said that only a political solution was in everyone's interest, adding that Pakistan could act as a facilitator. To ensure sustainable peace in the region, Janjua also urged the United Kingdom to play a decisive role in resolving the Kashmir issue.
