Aizaz Chaudhary says India’s NSG membership will cause instability in South Asia

ISLAMABAD: Aizaz Chaudhary, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary has recently said in his statement that India’s aggressive policies are not in the interest of the region.

During Radio Pakistan’s transmission, foreign secretary made the statement while addressing a seminar titled “Assessing South Asia’s Nuclear Security” in Islamabad.

In his address Chaudhary stressed that Pakistan has always been keen in expressing its desire for strategic stability and recommends all of its regional allies to utilize resources for economic development instead of boosting their individual nuclear capabilities which eventually leads to political instability in the region.

The foreign secretary stated that Pakistan has met all the requirements for becoming a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), and that authorities were not given a proper reply to their suggestions over arms race in the region.

He added that the vision of a nuclear free South Asia will not become a reality if India will be preferred as a member of the NSG.

The secretary said that Pakistan has offered India to sign a nuclear tests ban agreement in the region.
