Won’t tolerate slackness in national security drive: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that 1,685 aliens have voluntarily returned Pakistani CNICs due to the strong national security drive.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, he observed that there should be no slackness in the ongoing national security re-verification drive on part of any NADRA official.

The minister said it is a national security matter and zero tolerance policy should continue to be maintained till the termination of re-verification drive.

It was also conveyed by NADRA that so far around 67.9 million CNICs have been verified by NADRA and over 48,000 aliens were identified.

The Interior Minister also approved fifty INGOs to operate in Pakistan whereas cases of 15 INGOs are under scrutiny.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also directed Ministry of Interior for formation of a policy for issuance of armed licenses in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan met security expert Ikram Sehgal and reviewed the progress on matters agreed to ensure security of media houses.

The interior minister said that a framework was being formed regarding security of media houses in Karachi and the Sindh government was completely informed about it, said a press release on Wednesday.
