Chief Justice stresses on promoting integrity between state institutions

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice, Anwar Zaheer Jamali has urged that all the institutions should work within their constitutional domains to ensure good governance in the country.

Addressing a ceremony of new judicial year in Supreme Court on Monday, the Chief Justice said, “Good governance is possible only when all institutions work in their respective ambits. Domain of all is defined in the constitution.”

He said that an impression was being given that there is clash between institutions. “To shun this impression a debate between the institutions has been organized.”

He said that in the changing circumstances of the world all institutions will have to work in a cooperative environment to form a fully functional body.

Justice Jamali said the judiciary and lawyers fraternity are being targeted in acts of terrorism in order to threaten this institution entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring justice.

The Chief Justice also emphasized the need for bringing improvement in district courts.

Attorney General for Pakistan, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council and President Supreme Court Bar Association also spoke on the occasion.

Judges of Supreme Court, Law Officers of the federation and provinces and a large number of lawyers attended the ceremony.
