Pilot dies as PAF jet crashes in Jamrud

KHYBER AGENCY: A pilot of the Pakistan Air Force died in an air crash in Chapari area of Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency, official sources said on Saturday.

They said that F-7 PG was on a routine operational training mission when it crashed in mountainous area of Chapari in Jamrud. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), military's media wing, in a statement said the F-7 PG accidentally hit a mountain in Masoom Baba area of Jamrud. Another report stated that thick fog in the mountains caused the aircraft crash. Flight Lieutenant Umar Shehzad embraced martyrdom in the incident, sources confirmed. According to PAF sources, the untoward incident seemed to have been occurred due to a technical fault although a board of inquiry had been set up to find real cause behind the incident. The administration and forces officials rushed to the site to collect evidences and remains of the crashed plane, sources said. No loss of civilian life and property has been reported on ground," added sources.
