Petition filed in LHC seeking ban on Indian movies

LAHORE: A petition was filed at the Lahore High Court on September 23 seeking a ban on Indian movies in the country until the resolution of the Kashmir issue.

The petition, filed by Advocate Azhar Saddique, alleged that exhibiting Indian movies in local cinemas hurts the sentiments of the people of Kashmir and Pakistan, both of whom who are against the atrocities committed by Indian security forces in the region.

Four security personnel killed as militants attack Army camp in J&K's Uri sector. It said further that the Indian movies, being opposed to Pakistan's Kashmir policy, are a 'big hurdle' in freedom movement of the people in the valley.

"To express solidarity with Kashmiris the Pakistani government should be ordered to put immediate ban on exhibition of Indian movies across the country," it pleaded.

The ban, argued the petitioner, would be a firm response to India, where the government and other extremist organisations are threatening Pakistani actors to leave India after Uri attack.
