Help Gujarat Carnage Victims

I am currently in India working on Tsunami rehabilitation projects. Since last week almost every media channel in the country has screaming headlines about the refusal of the US government to grant a visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Modi. The US refusal has brought joy to many innocent victims of the Gujarat carnage unleashed by the state government of Modi. After remaining on the back burners for two years, this issue is in the limelight again The newly formed ‘Coalition Against Genocide’ organization ( http://www.coalitionagainstgenocide.org ) continues to do a marvelous job!
This is a great achievement but we must still come up with a plan to move forward and bring justice to as many victims of the Gujarat carnage as possible. Thousands of lives were lost. Properties worth crores were destroyed. Women and children suffered the most. Women were raped and children saw their parents, brothers and sisters raped and burnt alive. These women and children are still suffering and will suffer the rest of their lives.
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit some of the surviving children at Apna Ghar in Delhi and spent sometime with them. I had to go back the next day to talk to them, their teachers, counselors and had the privilege to share some candy with them which brought priceless smiles to their sad faces.
Can we ever bring justice to them? I think we can InshaAllah.
India’s judicial system has given us a unique opportunity to pursue two thousand cases that are yet to be opened and investigated. The Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC) has taken up this challenge to bring justice to the innocent victims. We are fortunate that Mr. Harsh Mander, a well-known activist, has agreed to visit us in the US. during May and June to mobilize needed resources. Please help us in arranging this program in your city. For more information. Jazakummullaahukhairan for your support. (manzoor@aol.com 650 856-0440)
