Aid for Earthquake Victims

Jamaat-e-Islami and some other groups in Pakistan
have opposed humanitarian assistance from Israel
for the earthquake survivors. They seem to have
forgotten the Israeli military assistance that
they themselves received during the Jihad in Afghanistan
in the 1980’s. General Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq
was the mediator at that time. This military assistance,
which has now been confirmed by a number of sources
and western authors, was coming from Israel through
the USA. Besides, during that period trainers
of Jewish origin were also visiting Pakistan to
impart training on the use of the sophisticated
weaponry.
While this Jihad was going on in Afghanistan,
Palestinians were being persecuted and incidents
like carnage in Sabra and Shatila refugee camps
were taking place. After the US-sponsored Jihad
ended, these clerics sold the donated weapons
in the international markets and became billionaires.
So they fully enjoyed the Israeli assistance at
that time and are now against any humanitarian
assistance for the quake victims who have lost
their loved ones, their properties, and everything,
and who are living in miserable conditions.
Such double standards only suit these clerics.
