An ad in a leading newspaper today
speaks volumes about the dismal state of incompetence
in the PIA. “With its vision to be a world
class organization and in the process of implementing
major system changes across the organization”,
the PIA has advertised for a Senior Vice President
Corporation Planning to “Join the wining
team”. Wining team? I thought PIA had gone
dry and stopped wining and dining long ago. But
it doesn’t appear to be so, at least from
their ad in issue.
I know PIA will blame their ad agency for the
goof up. And the ad agency would exonerate itself
for having had obtained the PIA’s approval
for the final draft before sending it for publication.
The blame game will go on for a while with every
one trying to cover his tail before the matter
is dropped quietly and forgotten, with all aboard
wining and dining happily. And then the PIA has
a hope to be a world-class organization?
If it is serious about regaining its lost glory,
it should just sack the man responsible for the
ads to set an example for the others. He simply
does not have the eye for the details. This sort
of inefficiency and acquiescence to it has been
going on for too long now. PIA must weed out the
inefficient. No mercy for the fools and the nincompoops.
Only then it can dream of becoming a world-class
organization. Anyone listening in PIA?
