History is Repeated
By Dr. Ghayur Ayub
London, England

According to a news item, General Musharraf told a group of British MPs that free and fair elections in Pakistan would lead to a landslide victory for “fundamentalists,” meaning thereby that he wanted some kind of “controlled” elections.
According to declassified documents of 1950s, General Ayub in unanimity with Sikandar Miraz used to say that “people of this country need controlled democracy for time to come.”
What a similarity in the thought process of a general of yesteryear and a general of today and what a resemblance between the politician (Sikandar Mirza) of the past and the politician (Chaudhry Shujaat) of today! Long live militarized democracy in Pakistan!
