Gohar Ayub’s Dubious Writings
By Dr. Ghayur Ayub
London, UK

Mr. Gohar Ayub, in his book, blamed Mr Nawaz Sharif for desiring to either put the then Chief Justice of Supreme Court behind bars for one night or call him to face a Parliamentary Committee. Irrespective of how truthful his statement is; Mr. Ayub inadvertently admitted that Mr. Nawaz Sharif respected the Constitution as he refrained from taking those actions when he was told doing so would be unconstitutional.
Now, let us ask the ex-protector of Constitution - the Speaker of National Assembly, as to which Constitution did he follow when he joined a party which accepted a military dictator as the President of Pakistan?. Was he following his father’s legacy when he told the American Consul General, Mr. Gibson in 1953, “Pakistan Army will not allow the political leaders to get out of hand,” or, “The army would declare a military government in order to secure stability.” (By the way, we know now what is happening to Pakistan ’s stability under General Musharraf.)
Sitting in a glasshouse, Mr. Gohar Ayub should avoid throwing stones onto others and twisting historical facts, otherwise someone would ask him under which law did he order killing innocent Mohajirs in Karachi over three decades ago?
