A Wakeup Call
for the Federal Health Minister

The
following two news items are wakeup calls for
the federal health minister, Mr Naseer Khan, who
is adamant to spend billions on constructions
ignoring basic healthcare of the poor.
A news item stated that PIMS has run out of hepatitis
injections and as a result the poor patients with
Hepatitis-C are running from pillar to post in
search of a messiah. Two days ago the top messiah
came from the ministry but instead of alleviating
their miseries, he went straight to the Helipad
to assess the building plan of a multi-million
medical tower leaving them with spread out hands
carrying prescription chits.
In another part of the country, it was revealed
that in spite of the minister’s tall claims
polio is resurging in the country. The relevant
agencies blame the poor governance of the minister
of health to this disconcerting trend.
God bless the health minister for his displaced
priorities. God bless the President of Pakistan
for keeping such people on important portfolios.
