The Challenges ahead

The federal cabinet has finally taken oath on Monday. The amicable settlement of different ministries among allied political parties augurs well for the political future of Pakistan. This exemplary understanding and tradition is what Pakistan needed most at this critical juncture of its history. Now, it will be another feather in the present government’s cap if this positive beginning is followed by a well-knit and prudent strategy to face the grave challenges ahead.
At present, Pakistan is facing the worst ever crises at internal and external level. Internally, the economy of the country is showing alarming indicators. The report of the State Bank of Pakistan released on Monday reveals horrible developments regarding GDP growth targets, inflation, dearness, trade deficit and current account deficit. Along with this dismal economics scenario, the threat of suicide bombing and the wave of militancy are also present like the sword of Damocles.
On the external front, there is  the increasing US pressure of ‘Do More’ in the war against terror which may lead the present government to a blind alley. The gravity of this critical situation has posed a great challenge for the present government. It should, first of all, set its own house in order. It should amicably settle the issue of the reinstatement of judges. Peaceful co-existence should be the guiding principle for the government to resolve this problem. Then the government should work out a sane strategy to address the economic problems at home and the grave challenges abroad.
