Mumbai Attacks Are a Diversion
By Naveed Khan

Almost three weeks after the Mumbai attacks, India has not officially shared an iota of information on the origins of the perpetrators and their handlers. Astonishingly, the new nexus of global power USA, India, UK and Israel has already passed a guilty verdict on a charity group in Pakistan. Islamabad has been forced to take action against the organization without any incriminating proof.

The Pakistan government is in violation of its own laws and constitution and India steadfastly has refused to share any information on the terrorist and the planners who attacked Mumbai. Every fair-minded person has to ask for the motives of the Indian government and its reluctance to share information. My contention is that India’s own militants planned this attack for two reasons:

  1. The chief of Mumbai’s Anti-Terror police Hemant Kakare was gunned down in the mayhem. He had probed the involvement of Hindu Right wing, including an Army Colonel in Malegon terror bombings in India. He was instrumental in the arrest of  the Indian army officer and his links with Right Wing Hindu Nationalists. His investigation had seriously damaged the credence of the BJP in its political stance against terrorism. Kakare had established a clear link between the BJP and the terror groups created to kill minorities in India. His elimination became necessary to stop the investigation and spare Hindu extremists from further indignity and political loss.
  2. In Kashmir, the majority Muslim population has launched its most vociferous and peaceful anti-India campaign. This campaign has been gaining momentum since the Kashmir valley’s governor allowed the Hindu nationalists to usurp Muslim land under the guise of pilgrimage to the Hindu Amaranth Shrine. This anti-secularism act by the governor had finally awakened the state’s Muslim majority to the long-term perils of living under the dominance of Hindu-India. The overwhelming majority of them now clearly contemplates losing its religious and ethnic identity under the current setup and has launched a vigorous campaign for freedom from India. This indigenous and peaceful movement has rattled the Indian establishment and the majority community in India that wishes to cling on to Kashmir at any cost.
Militant Hindu organizations wanted diversions for the above two politically volatile and criminally incriminating issues. They are the ones who masterminded the Mumbai attacks and recruited these individuals. If India, USA and UK are so convinced that the perpetrators and the planners of the attack are Pakistanis, then why are they reluctant to share the evidence? What is holding them back? They are demanding action against the implicated planners and instigators in Pakistan but unwilling and unable to share the evidence. It is perplexing to fair-minded and honorable people of the world. Pakistan would be well advised to release the people they have interned at the insistence of the world powers until India provides verifiable evidence of their involvement. There is a growing and credible perception that India’s story is based on false assumptions and USA and UK have fallen for it. Let this not be a case in which judgment and punishment is meted out without proper investigation and evidence.
