After the World Memon Organization meeting in Dubai there has been a concerted effort to organize the Memon community in the USA. Many leaders have come together in metropolitan areas of Houston, Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis, New York and Toronto, Canada with this objective in view. After many meetings, the  Memon Organization of North America is to work under the leadership of Mr. Yousuf Tar. He won a vote of confidence in a meeting at Los Angeles. The goal is to establish a sound Los Angeles-based not-for-profit organization.
This organization is to function independently and will follow the rules of IRS and Homeland Security. It would educate the community and help the needy - nationally and internationally. The temporary board has agreed to work on getting cemetery plots for the indigent and to institute  scholarships and finance the education of youth.
The project of Memon Medical Institute has been under discussion amongst various Memon communities in the USA and the 330-bed hospital will be a worthy gift to the citizens of Karachi.  Donations for the hospital are being currently solicited.
Mr. Yousuf Tar has stated that the community should unite under one banner and support the Memons throughout the USA and Canada. Mr. Tar has hoped the Memon Organization of North America (MONA) will be able to serve purposefully for years to come.
