Zardari’s Strategy
By Dr. A. Khan

Following the failure of talks relating to the restoration of the deposed judges, a few things have become quite apparent about Mr. Asif Ali Zardari:

  • It appears that since February 18th, he has been beating about the bush! He was never sincere in resolving the issue; perhaps he did not want to give credit to PML-N. When the April 30th deadline approached, he fled to Dubai just like the good old days when he would flee to Karachi from Petaro whenever he faced tests/challenges as a student at the Cadet College.

2. He did not want to be held accountable for his past; he wants judges not  to question him how he amassed his $1.8 billion wealth? Like General Musharraf, Mr Zardari wants to appoint his own  Abdul Qayyums, Dogars and Sharifuddin Pirzadas.

  • He does not want to work with PML (N) as he wants a constitutional cover for his past misdeeds and the unconstitutional adventures of General Musharraf.
  • For millions of voters, who despite his questionable credibility gave him the sympathy vote for the martyrdom of  prime minter Benazir Bhutto, he proved that he is not a man of his words.(He said that the Murree Declaration was not a Hadith; had he attended his Islamiayat classes at Petaro, he could have learned the Hadith regarding the importance of keeping one’s promise). Contrary to the true character of a Petarian (who is expected to be a person of exemplary character) he reneged on his promises.
  • It has become abundantly clear that Mr. Zardari, his titular PM and General Musharaf are working against the peoples’ mandate.

Economic renaissance is taking place in Asia. Millions of Chinese and Indians are reaping the fruit of prosperity by attaining the middle class status, thanks to the visionary policies of their leaders. In contrast the Pakistani middle class is struggling and shrinking thanks to the myopic vision of their leader.
What a pity! While the Justices await justice, the characterles
s characters continue to fool the poor people of Pakistan!
