Zardari’s Desperation
By Naveed Khan

The Pakistani President called  the Kashmir freedom fighters as “terrorists”. It must be the most abominable and despicable statement to come from any Pakistani leader - elected or unelected.

Asif Ali Zardari is so desperate to find acceptance with India and the world powers that that he has denigrated thousands of brave people and made himself the most abhorrent  personality in Pakistan . His proclivity to bring Pakistan closer to the thinking of the West and India is manifestly evident and only in a month after donning the throne he has become the most despised man in Pakistan.

His pronouncements are unforgivable and must not be pardoned or even forgotten by the nation that has sacrificed so much for the freedom and dignity of the Kashmiri people. It must also be noted that probably for the first time in 60+ years, Kashmir was not even mentioned or figured in official discussions with China .

Mr. Zardari’s plan is clear. He is going to betray the Kashmiri people. He is going to make sure that  the sacrifices of the millions of Kashmiris are wasted. A man of low intellectual dispensation he is of oblivious to the role of Kashmir in Pakistan’s struggle for independence.

The Kashmiri people do not need a certificate of legitimacy from a man of Mr Zardari’s credentials. It is very likely, and it is my sincere hope, that the Kashmiri people would accelerate their struggle with indigenous tactics and rely less on the Pakistani government. The Kashmiris must not become despondent, they have the support of over 150 million Pakistanis and over 1.5 billion Muslims. The struggle for their honor and dignity must be accelerated. The Pakistani nation, political leadership, media, and especially the students community, must not forget the statements made by Mr. Zardari.  He has committed a non-venial crime and must never be given a reprieve.
