ICC and the ‘Green Shirt’ Cricketer
By Dr. Aamir Ahamd Salaria

It’s good to know that the CEO of ICC has shown his willingness to help the distressed and oppressed ‘green shirt’ cricketer.

Nevertheless, the powerful bookies cartel whose member actually threatened Zulqarnain Haider on face-to-face basis in his team’s hotel in UAE seems to be more resourceful and powerful than the current administration of ICC in whose backyard these illegal, immoral and unethical activities have been taking place since long.

It will be very hard, if not impossible, for the current ICC administration to catch the real culprits behind the cricket betting scandals which have mainly been instrumental in tainting the good name and reputation of the noble game of cricket, both domestically as well as internationally. The whole cricket fraternity including all full, associate, and affiliate members of ICC, must mobilize their worldwide resources under a unified, united, unequivocal and unqualified resolve and tangible action if cricket has to be completely cleaned and cleansed of any types and all types of betting activities, on and off the field.
