Angelina Jolie’s Visit
By Iqbal Khan Jadoon

Angelina Jolie recently paid a visit to Pakistan to be among the flood victims. She held their hands, sympathized with them, made donations, avoided photo sessions, met with aid agencies, but did not quite relish the experience.

She was not happy with the attitude of the authorities and the government, who were more interested in trying to please her and, in the process, did not hesitate to push the flood victims. She was particularly perturbed at the Prime Minister’s desire that she met members of his family. The PM’s family was especially flown from Multan to Islamabad and presented her with expensive gifts. They also had a sumptuous meal with her.

She felt awful at the dining table to see so much food – it was enough to feed hundreds of flood victims - who were fighting like crazy to get a small bag of flour and a bottle of water. In the midst of misery and suffering she found herself ill at ease in the lavishly decorated Prime Minister House, luxuriant government buildings, and chartered planes.
