Nur Khan’s Sad Demise

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.” — Lao Tzu

In Pakistan, at a time when the credibility of leaders is in doubt, a true leader has left the stage. With the passing away of Air Marshall (R) Nur Khan, Pakistan has lost one of its finest leaders. He played a key role in establishing the key institutions in Pakistan. His dedicated and visionary leadership transformed PIA and PAF into world class institutions. His visionary leadership enabled hockey, cricket and squash teams to win international fame and accolades.

Air Marshall Nur Khan was a true leader. Whatever task was assigned to him, the outcome was always a success. He never accumulated any wealth nor did he transfer anything to Swiss bank accounts. Whenever he needed medical treatment he got admitted to local hospitals and did not flee to overseas.

At a time when mediocre and corrupt leaders are busy bankrupting national institutions, the young generation in Pakistan needs to emulate Nur Khan’s leadership traits: loyalty, dedication, vision, patriotism, fidelity and integrity. Today, Pakistan needs leaders like Nur Khan. May Allah bless his soul.
