He Sees Everything, Knows Everything
Dr. Zafar M.  Iqbal
Chicago, IL

God lives not just in the temple, synagogue, church,  or mosque.  He is everywhere, omnipresent.   He is also omniscient: He knows everything, including how good we are, have been, and how faithfully and consistently we followed His teachings.  He knows when we strayed off, how far and how often.  This is despite how we portray ourselves to be.

Different views from 3 Urdu poets, translated here:

Mirza Ghalib

The devout abstainer:  Let me drink in the mosque,

or show me a place where God is not present.

[Zahid, sharaab pee-nay day, musjid main baith kar / ya wo jugga butha jahan Khuda nahin]

Allama Iqbal

Mosque is the place of God, not a bar.

Go to an unbeliever’s heart—no God there.

[Musjid Khuda ka ghar hai,  pee-nay ki jugga nahin / Kaafir kay dil main  ja, wahan per Khuda nahin]

Ahmed Faraaz

I’ve come from an unbeliever’s heart.

God is there but he knows not.

[Kaafir kay dil say aaya hoon, mein yeh daykh ker / Khuda maujood hai wahan, per oosay putha nahin]
