Time for Change

It is the sincere wish of all Pakistanis, living within or outside the country, that the forthcoming elections are held peacefully. At this critical juncture in the nation’s history it is the foremost duty of each and every one of us to wholeheartedly participate in the election process and cast our vote for the much-needed change.

The performance of the past Government is known to all of us. Thanks to the media, its misdoings in major departmental fields and institutions like the Steel Mills, PIA, NICL, Railways and the all-important power sector have caught the attention of all and sundry. The foreign loan aggregate in the past five years alone surpassed the total of the last 60 years!

Not surprisingly, no foreign investor is willing to invest in Pakistan because of rampant corruption and the poor law and order situation. Even the local investors are setting up industries in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other countries.

It is the duty of each and every citizen of the country to cast his or her vote for change and provide a chance to Imran Khan and his party PTI to play their role in arresting the present disconcerting trend and usher a wholesome change. Imran’s credentials are impressive: as a cricketer, he won the World Cup and his services include the establishment of the first cancer hospital in the country. He has galvanized 20 million young voters and announced a party manifesto that appeals to all. His party’s emphasis on local bodies elections within three months is truly well-meaning and particularly laudable.

With a sincere leader and party leading the nation there is every hope that Pakistanis with their resources and national genius will make their mark in the not too distant future. The change could come in just a few years. - shariq_zaidi786@hotmail.com
