My name is Abdul-Majeed Azad. I'm a Technologist at California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
Ocassionally, I also do some creative writing, which I find very rewarding and stimulating. I've just finished writing a children's book. My target readers are children in the age group of 3-9 years as well as the parents/grandparents/caregivers, who could read the narrative in the book to them.
The purpose is two-fold: (a) Narrating a story that is laced with love, affection, morals, ethics, friendship, family ties and connection with others, and (b) Connecting the narrator through their genuine effort towards explaining significant aspects of the story composition, with the young minds.
I've shared the story in this book with some friends who have children and definitely know a thing or two about story and the art of story telling. Some of their comments are, 'amazing!", 'beautiful!', 'genuine!', 'pure joy!', 'inspiring!', 'tear-jerking!', etc.

What am Itrying to do?
While I was looking for publishers, I came across the most inspring act of kindness and generosity of Jim Estill - a mild-mannered Canadian CEO of an appliance company - who put up $1.5 million to save 200 Syrian refugees!

He in personally instrumental in bringing refugees from war-torn Syria and seeing their rehabilitationion in Canada. For right reasons, he has been hailed as the modern day Oskar Schindler of Guelph, Toronto!
After reading about his selfless humanitarian journey, I sort of discovered the real hidden-yet-from-me reason and the true purpose that my book could serve. I felt that the best way I can pay my homage to this great man and his Cause, is to donate a part of the proceeds from the sale of this book - if it ever got opublished- to Mr Jim Estill's organization in Toronto, Canada!
I believe that would be the smallest yet most humble contribution that I could make towards bettering the lot of Syrians fleeing from the wrath of war - one refugee at a time!
That is my true motivation for getting this book published. I am also hoping to make this story a lifelong and life-lasting reading experience for whoever reads it.

How can you be a part of this?
We all live in real world and it happens, any kind of publishing is not cheap. The publishers were kind enough to slash their labor cost because they said, they loved the book and the higher purpose behind it. Still, they gave me a final price of $10,953.16.
As you can imagine, I can't afford to put this amount upfront to get going and fulfil my covenant toward a great cause. Hence, I'm reaching out to all of you out there, who could pitch in as much as you can, so that this book can see the light of the day and serve a great cause as I stated above.

My plea
No amount is small. I'll accept it with great humility and say a prayer for your well-being and the well-being of your loved one! And will say a prayer for the safety and transquility of your household.
Even if you don't feel like making a contribution, I still say thank you, but please make sure to buy it when it comes out. You will be making someone feel special!!
The title of my book is:
Here or There.....? The Lamp Goes......Where?
An excerpt below:
Dedicated to theinnocent children of Syria - both surviving and perished - whose suffering in the hands of a single ruthless dictator is compounded by the apathy of billions of silent global spectators. We all can do something about it, but most have chosen not to.
Here or There..…The Lamp Goes…Where?
A story in the Read-to-your-Child series

There was a king.
He had a name. But everyone knew him as Sultan.
Sultan had a huge kingdom – as far as the eyes could see.
He ruled over a large number of people.
Nobody really knew how many people lived in his country.
But one thing everyone knew.
He treated all with kindness and affection.
He made them feel special by his warmth and love.
He never wronged anyone.
He was a just king.
He was a generous king.
There was plenty of food and clean water.
There was safety and protection.
People respected and loved the king very much.
They were loyal to him.
His kingdom had everything.
There were schools and colleges.
There were universities and hospitals.
There were workshops and newspapers.
There were hotels, restaurants and café.
There were garages and gas stations.
There were laboratories and libraries.
There were factories and bakeries.
There were flower shops and nurseries.
There were barns and potteries.
There were parks, canyons and planetariums.
There were museums, geysers and gymnasiums.
There were apple orchards and aquariums.
There were pumpkin patches and stadiums.

There were roller-coasters, studios and zoos.
And Islands with baboons, giraffe and moose.
