The Neglected Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ever since the Mian Nawaz Sharif government (which is ironically continuing as per PM ShahidKhakanAbbasi’s own admissions) came into power, Pakistan has been without an effective Foreign Minister. Now the portfolio has been passed on to MrKhurramDastgir who is already dabbling pathetically in the insurmountable-for-him defence affairs of the country. What kind of a joke is this with the nation, especially when we are having the most trying and deteriorating by day relations with the most powerful nation of the world? Can’t we find ONE full-time, capable and competent person in a nation of over 200 million blessed with thousands of bright and outstanding intellectuals to head our foreign ministry?
Why is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs being subjected to such neglect? Is it by design (hope not) or just due to some “manufacturing” defect in our rulers; one just cannot dismiss the situation so lightly and has to give it a serious thought.
