The Trump Admin's Aggressive Coronavirus Response Continues

Since January, President Trump and his administration have been aggressively confronting the coronavirus pandemic on all fronts.
As Vice President Mike Pence reminded the American people Friday, the Trump administration’s whole of government response to the pandemic has resulted in 30 million total coronavirus tests (500,000 tests a day) and “no outstanding requests from any state” for PPE or medical supplies.
President Trump and Vice President Pence have continued to ensure everyone, regardless of socioeconomic background, gets the same access to health care.
So as America begins to reopen safely and responsibly, below is a reminder of the recent efforts by the Trump administration to confront coronavirus that have not received enough coverage:
• May 21, HHS announced up to $1.2 billion to support AstraZeneca’s candidate vaccine.
• June 1, HHS announced a task order with Emergent BioSoultions, to advance manufacturing capabilities for a potential coronavirus vaccine.
• June 2, HHS announced an additional $250 million to support America’s hospitals and the frontline healthcare workers who are treating coronavirus patients.
• June 9, HHS and DoD announced a joint effort to increase domestic manufacturing capability for vitals used for coronavirus vaccines and treatments.
• June 19, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced an Independent Coronavirus Commission to conduct an independent review of nursing homes’ response to coronavirus.
And earlier last week in testimony before Congress, FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn explained President Trump has made sure the American people have access to necessary medical products to respond to the coronavirus.
The FDA has issued more than 100 emergency use authorizations for diagnostics, PPE, ventilators, and drug products.
There have also been major developments on the vaccine front. Dr Fauci explained that because of President Trump’s actions, he is “optimistic” a vaccine will be widely available by 2020, early 2021.
And despite the media noise, Admiral Brett Giroir confirmed that “neither the President nor anyone in the administration has instructed or suggested” that less coronavirus testing be done.
Reminder: Throughout the coronavirus crisis, Joe Biden has lagged behind President Trump’s leadership.
• Biden never had any great foresight into the coronavirus pandemic. Even The Washington Post Fact Checked Biden’s often repeated lie about raising awareness of coronavirus.
o Back in late January, Biden wrote an op ed that “was more of an attack on President Trump… than a detailed plan for action against a possible pandemic.”
• Biden also did not call for the use of the Defense Production Act until AFTER President Trump and his administration already had.
Bottom Line: The Trump administration continues to leave no stone unturned in America’s fight against the coronavirus.
