The Message of River Indus

“I have been created exclusively for you. I am a Pakistani first and last, whether you call me Abaseen, Indus, Sindh, or Mehran. I am neither a Punjabi nor Sindhi nor Pathan nor Baluchi nor Kashmiri. You cannot divide me. I stand for unity. You believe in one God, one Muhammad (PBUH), one Qur’an, one Kaaba, and one Qiblah and similarly there is one Indus. You can benefit from my waters if you stand united, because I am indivisible. My waters shall be stored in the North and supplied to the South. Do not quarrel over my waters, show love and understanding to each other else my waters will go to the fishes and shrimps of the Arabian Ocean, while human beings in Pakistan, may they be Punjabis, Sindhis, Pathans, or Baluchis or Kashmiris die of thirst and nature shall use my floods to destroy your homes and hearths as a punishment for your crime to waste my waters to Arabian Ocean. What else I can say on delay to store my waters, than what Allama Iqbal, the poet of Islam and the poet of Pakistan, has already said and I quote:

 

‘Yehi Moqsood-e- Millat Hai yehi Ramz-e-Musalmani.

Jehangiri Ukhuwat ki Muhabbat ki Farawani

Butan-eRang wo Bu Ko Tor kar Millat Mai Gum Hoja.

Na Punjabi Rahay Baqi Na Sindhi aur Na Afghani ‘

And finally I say ,

‘Watan ki Fikr Kar Nadan Musibat Aney Wali Hai
