MPAC Convention Speakers

Los Angeles: During its fourth annual convention on December 18, the Muslim Public Affairs Council will feature speakers who have embodied the theme of "Countering Religious and Political Extremism." Many legal and civil rights experts have characterized Captain James Yee and Professor Tariq Ramadan, who will be featured speakers at the convention.
Tariq Ramadan, the Swiss professor whose visa was revoked just days before he was to assume a teaching post at the University of Notre Dame, has yet to receive an explanation from US authorities. Captain James Yee, who served as a Muslim Chaplain to detainees at Guantanamo Bay, was
charged last year with mishandling classified information, and spent 76 days in solitary confinement. He was eventually released after the government's case disintegrated.
