Ali Attends Dedication
of Muslim TV Network
Chicago,
IL: Muhammad Ali demonstrated again Thursday why he is both
a highly persuasive and highly unorthodox spokesman for any
cause.
The three-time heavyweight champion, arguably most charismatic
athlete of all time, enthralled the audience at the official
Chicago-area launch of an American Muslim television network.
And the 63-year-old Ali did it without saying a single word.
Despite an unsteady hand with his Parkinson’s symptoms,
he signed autographs and clowned with everyone from children
to Naperville Police Chief Dave Dial.
Ali embraced youngsters who approached him, rubbed faces with
one and signed an oversized boxing photo of himself fighting
Ken Norton for another fan. When Dial approached him while
one of his officers took a photo, Ali raised his hands above
his head as if he were being frisked. (Courtesy Chicago Tribune)
