Mowahid Condoles Manzoor Elahi’s Death Washington,
DC:
Mowahid
Hussain Shah has expressed his condolences over the demise
of Chaudhry Manzoor Elahi, father of Punjab Chief Minister
Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister,
now in Washington, in a condolence message said that Chaudhry
Manzoor Elahi was known to him for years. He described
him as "a true builder of Chaudhry family."
"The deceased lived a simple lifestyle, and he rightly
was a true visionary," he stated. He said, Manzoor Elahi
started his business in pre-partition days in Punjab in
1942, after having done his graduation in the same year.
"In 1950, he went to post-war Tokyo to purchase loom,
for which he was able to set up office and start textile
business from Ravi Road Lahore. He never went to the office
without coat and tie, and maintained that one's ethics
can always be checked through conduct, particularly in
the field of business."
"He maintained low profile in life but provided platform
for Chaudhry family to launch itself in the area beyond
business and enter into public life. "Later, Chaudhry
Zahoor Elahi, who was in politics and Chaudhry Manzoor
Elahi, who was in business, were an excellent illustration
of brotherhood at work." Mowahid personally condoled with
deceased's son Chaudhry Javed Elahi; Punjab Chief Minister
Chaudhry Pervez Elahi; and former prime minister Chaudhry
Shujat Hussain, who was the nephew of the deceased.
