When
Parmjit Singh takes the mike, the audience finds it difficult
to resist the temptation of leaving their seats and jumping
on the floor to dance merrily. This was the scene at the Indus
Valley American Chamber of Commerce election. This enjoyable
evening was full of glamour, plenty of food, and lots of entertainment.
The old and young, who came from all over Northern California
to attend this event, enjoyed every moment of the enlivening
evening. Plenty of snacks served throughout the evening and
delicious food at the end of the show were the talk of the
day. Delicious “fish pakora”, “cutlass”,
and “gulab jaman” for snacks and mouth-watering
dinner dishes were prepared by Maharaja Restaurant, and were
paid for by Jack Dhaliwal and Asha/Madan Singh, who were the
main sponsors of the show. The master of ceremony on this
entrancing evening was Mr. Iqbal Badwalz.

Ms.
Poonam Malhotra thanked the IVACC members for the confidence
reposed in her and promised to fulfill her duties diligently
and to give an accelerated impetus to the activities of the
Indus Valley Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Poonam Malhotra is a
well-known real estate broker, a very successful business
woman and a fine singer.
Cultural show marked the second part of the evening’s
program. Poonam Malhotra took the mike and sang the first
song “Mein kiya karoon Ram mujhay buddha mil gaya”
to the delight of the audience. She sang a few other popular
songs as the audience sat enraptured by her scintillating
performance. They were equally excited by the beat of the
music. A dance by “Punjabi Roses” was very much
liked. Another item was bhangra by 7-year-old kids “Chakke
Jaam” directed by Nirmal Dhillon. Dr. Firdos Sheikh
entertained the audience with her melodious songs. Several
other dance items were presented and one of the most liked
one was “Dandia”. At the end, Parmjit Singh took
the stage, and with his beautiful voice, won the hearts of
the crowd.
My congratulations to every member of the Indus Valley American
Chamber of Commerce for arranging such a highly entertaining
evening, especially Sukhchain Singh, for his untiring work
and zest.
