Shura Council Appoints Executive Director

Anaheim, CA: Islamic Shura Council of Southern California has announced the appointment of Shakeel Syed as Executive Director. Mr. Syed will report to Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Chairman of Shura Council. He will also be a member of the Council’s Executive Committee.
Prior to joining the Shura Council, Mr. Syed was based in Los Angeles as Vice President of IslamiCity, one of the largest Islamic websites in the world. Earlier, Mr. Syed spent over 15 years in various management roles with not-for-profit organizations and Fortune 500 companies.
As Executive Director, Mr. Syed will be responsible to oversee all operational aspects of the Shura Council. He will execute policies and plans to strengthen the Council and its services to the community. In addition, Mr. Syed will serve as Shura Council’s primary liaison within and outside the community.
Chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, commented on the appointment thus, “We are delighted to welcome Shakeel Syed as Executive Director beginning June 1, 2005. I am confident that his skills will complement those of the team here.”
