Sheriff Baca Assures COPAA
of Help for Earthquake Victims

Los
Angeles: A Council of Pakistan American Affairs (COPAA) delegation
paid a visit to Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baca to
brief him on the current status of devastation, recovery and
relief of the Pakistan Earthquake of October 8, 2005
The Sheriff who has previously extensively visited the earthquake
affected areas was moved by the reports of deaths, suffering,
injuries and homelessness. The Sheriff said, “These
are good people who now need our help”.
The Sheriff told the COPAA delegation that he wants to get
involved in the Pakistan Earthquake Relief work. The Sheriff
outlined to the COPAA delegation several specific activities
which he is interested in setting up in his department, with
national law enforcement organizations and with local businesses.
COPPA is impressed by Sheriff Baca’s personal involvement
in this international relief work. Hamid Malik, President
of COPAA commented, "COPAA looks forward to working with
Sheriff Baca on several of the suggestions which he made to
provide the urgently needed relief to the Pakistan Earthquake
victims."
