IMC Awards
Indian Muslim Council-USA,
a US based advocacy group, has announced the much awaited
list of its annual awards for excellence in services to
humanity in different fields.
The awards will be given at the IMC-USA annual convention
in Detroit on October 1, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Fairlane,
Dearborn. According to Mirza Rahmat Baig, President of IMC-West
Coast, the awards for 2005 are:
Maulana Muhammad Ali Jowhar Award in Journalism: For best
in-depth coverage of Indian Diaspora AND India-related issues
in the US - Ruth Morris, Sun-Sentinel, Florida
Bahadur Shah Zafar Award: For promoting pluralism and communal
harmony in India - Raju Rajagopal, Promise of India, CA
Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award in Humanitarian work: For self-less
service towards the upliftment of the poor and the oppressed
classes in India - Gujarati Muslim Association of America,
Chicago
Altaf Hussain Hali Award in Humanitarian work For self-less
service towards the upliftment of Muslims in India - Syed
Salman, Michigan
Tipu Sultan Award: For courageously
serving India and India’s interests - Biju Mathew,
Campaign to Stop Funding Hate, NY.
