The
Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) strongly condemns
the recent attack on six women at a Jewish community center
in Seattle Washington on Friday, July 28. A man claiming
to be upset with events in the Middle East and US foreign
policy attacked the Jewish center Friday evening, wounding
five women and killing one. One of the wounded women was
five months pregnant.
PAL-C, on behalf of the Pakistani American community, extends
its condolences and deepest sympathies to the victims, their
families and friends. Such “crimes of hate”
are an abomination to all because they are the outcome of
the ignorance of a few. We hope that the perpetrator of
the attack in Seattle, as well as perpetrators of such crimes
everywhere are swiftly brought to justice.
Seattle’s Mayor, Greg Nickels, described the incident
as “a purposeful hateful act, by an individual acting
alone”. PAL-C supports the local authorities in their
pursuit of justice and further condemns all such crimes
of hate and ignorance.
The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is the
only professional Pakistani-American advocacy organization
that is located on Capitol Hill. It launched the Congressional
Pakistan Caucus in May 2004 and works to raise awareness
about Pakistani-American interests in Washington policy
circles. Our activities include managing the Congressional
Pakistan Caucus, liaisoning Pakistani officials and the
community with Members of Congress, and mobilizing all Pakistani-Americans
at the grassroots level. If you wish to learn more about
PAL-C, please visit our website www.pal-c.org or email us
at info@pal-c.org.
