Dr Faruqui Joins The
Brattle Group

Faruqui has joined The Brattle Group as a Principal in the
energy practice. During the past twenty-five years, he has
provided strategic advice, quantitative economic analysis,
and litigation support to clients throughout North America,
Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
Dr. Faruqui is one of the world's leading authorities on
utility pricing and demand response and has published widely
on the topic. He was one of the lead architects of California's
recent award-winning experiment with dynamic pricing that
was conducted from 2003-2005 with some 2,500 residential
and small business customers. The California Public Utilities
Commission cited the strong results from this innovative
pilot program when it unanimously approved the rollout of
9 million smart meters in northern California.

He comes to the firm after serving five years as a vice
president at CRA International. Prior to working with CRA,
Dr. Faruqui held senior management positions with the Electric
Power Research Institute and Barakat & Chamberlin. Dr.
Faruqui received his PhD in Economics and his MA in Agricultural
Economics from the University of California, Davis and an
undergraduate degree in Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics
from the University of Karachi, Pakistan.
