New PAL-C Executive
Director Takes over
Washington, DC: Mr. and Mrs.
Mossadaq Chughtai hosted a dinner on behalf of PAL-C at
their residence recently to celebrate the accomplishments
of PAL-C in the past year. An award of appreciation was
also presented to Aisha Chapra, outgoing Executive Director
of PAL-C, who left after her yearlong tenure to pursue studies
at the University of Toronto.
According to a press release, the PAL-C Board members expressed
their appreciation for Aisha Chapra’s dedication and
services to PAL-C and wished her well for the future.
Mossadaq Chughtai spoke of the challenges confronting the
organization and also enumerated its unique accomplishments.
He briefly touched on the issues confronting the Pakistani-American
community and concluded his speech with the remark, “We
must all come together to make a difference and move forward”.
The Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan,
Muhammad Aslam Khan, spoke briefly about the strength of
the Pakistani-American community and lauded the efforts
of PAL-C in educating members of Congress on Pakistan and
Pakistani-American-specific issues.
Mossadaq Chughtai, on behalf of the PAL-C Board, welcomed
Fauzia Tariq who is a graduate from the University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill to be the next Executive Director.
Miss Tariq is “extremely excited about PAL-C’s
potential and the prospect of working to build a stronger
and more politically educated and active Pakistani-American
community,” he said.
Fauzia Tariq has been the Executive Director of Rising Leaders
and has worked closely with PAL-C on a number of projects.
She is an outstanding member of the community and will be
a valuable addition to PAL-C.
The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is the
only organization that works on Capitol Hill for Pakistani
Americans. It serves a dual purpose in educating both Members
of Congress about important issues related to Pakistan and
Pakistani Americans and the Pakistani-American community
about what activity is taking place on the Hill that is
