Salman Ahmad Makes Earthquake
Appeal
By Ras H. Siddiqui
At
his performance at Stanford University recently and privately
"Junooni" Rock Star Salman Ahmad made a special
appeal for continued efforts to aid the October 8, 2005
earthquake victims in Pakistan and Kashmir.
Salman said that he was in Beirut, Lebanon when he got the
news that his aunt and cousin were amongst the thousands
dead. He wanted everyone to understand the immense nature
of the tragedy. On his visit to the Muzaffarbad area in
Kashmir he said that it seemed as if the area had "been
hit by a nuclear strike." He said that he remembered
especially the look on the face of one little girl who had
nowhere to go.
"These people need food, they need shelter," he
said. "It is going to be a long, slow effort. I urge
everyone to contribute," he added.
